Dubsado Contracts and Sub-Agreements: What’s the Difference?

I’ve been posting a lot lately about the different types of “Forms” available in Dubsado:

  • Contracts
  • Sub-Agreements
  • Questionnaires
  • Proposals
  • Lead Captures

The last two forms for us to discuss are Contracts and Sub-Agreements—what are they and how are they different?

Contracts and Sub-Agreements are similar, but serve different purposes. A Contract is the most important form because it lays out important information like your terms of service, your fees, and the scope of work you are going to perform for your client. Having a legally binding contract* in place will protect you and your business in case something happens.

Sub-Agreements can actually be used in several different ways:

  • They could act as Contract amendments—instead of rewriting the entire contract, you could simply create an amendment or Sub-Agreement that covers any additions or alternatives to your Contract.*
  • They could act as additional important documentation that requires an e-signature, such as Non-Disclosure Agreements, ACH Authorization forms, etc.
  • I’ve helped some clients set up Sub-Agreements for sending “draft” work to their clients and allowing their clients to add their feedback and sign the bottom to indicate they have listed all of their requested changes and/or approved the “draft” items.

Depending on your business setup and the different types of forms you might need, the Sub-Agreements type may or may not ever need to be used.
