I love this quote because it reminds me how important strategy and planning is to getting what we want.
A few years ago my husband and I took a weekend trip to St. Louis for his parents’ anniversary. We were excited to get away, but for some reason no one had done any planning for what we were actually going to do when we got there (usually my mother-in-law and I have a whole spreadsheet of data, ready for a structured and pre-planned vacation…lol).
So instead of getting to take a tour of Busch Stadium or going up to the top of the Gateway Arch, we spent a whole lot of time hanging out in the hotel room playing Candy Crush and trying to find something we could do that didn’t require a pre-purchased ticket.
The only thing I can remember us actually getting to do the entire weekend was a walk-up tour of Anheuser-Busch Brewery…not my idea of a vacation well-spent since I’m not really much of a beer drinker (I don’t like to taste my alcohol…lol).
The same is true for anything in life, especially in business.
❌ No marketing plan = no clients
❌ No way to invoice clients = no money
❌ No process for serving clients = a lot of manual work, time wasted, and potentially unhappy clients
But when you create a strategy and a plan around what you actually WANT, you are going to be a LOT more likely to get it.
